What I tried and bought over Black Friday weekend

What I tried and bought from Black Friday and pre-Black Friday sales.

Glossier- 20 percent off.

I bought another bottle of my favorite fragrance "You" b/c I'm getting low already.  It's not a huge bottle, which is the only negative.  I also bought the lip gloss b/c I'm feeling very nostalgic for junior high school. I have to say I have been stopped twice and asked what perfume I'm wearing, so it's that good.  The 20 percent off is automatically applied upon check out.

Madewell - 25 percent off with code don'tstress

Donegal Northfield Mockneck Sweater  I took a size small ($98  $25 off with code Don'tstress) and Reveur drawstring sweatshirt I took a xs. it runs large. ($79.50 $25 off with code Don'tstress).   The sweater has many great reviews.  The sweatshirt has one great review.  If I added mine, it would be two!  It's a great sweatsgirt.

What I didn't get - I also tried Madewell x no. 6 beacon dress in garden bouquet ($150 $25 off with code Don'tstress).  I sized down to a size 2.  I typically wear a small or xs in Madewell dresses. I passed on this one.  I also tried on  Cali demi-boot jeans: asymmetrical hem edition ($135 $25 off with code Don'tstress).  I typically wear a size 27 or 28.  I took these in a size 26.  They are very stretchy.

Sam Edelman - 30 percent off sitewide with code samsgiving.

I bought the Olencia Knee High Boots  ($200) and the Starburst leather jacket (originally $500 and now $189 before discount) a few weeks ago before the discount.  I also tried but didn't purchase the Haroldson heel ($130), the Corra stacked heel bootie ($160) and the Landis embellished slipper (now on sale $117).

J Crew - 40 percent off with code ThankU.

I have always been a fan of paisley, so when I saw the Silk twill top in bold paisley ($98 before code) I knew I wanted it. I also fell in love the trim around the neckline. I also ordered the matching Silk twill pull on pants in bold paisley  ($98 before code). I have a few pairs of J. Crew's pull on style pants and they are incredible. They are the equivalent of wearing pj's or sweatpants. Now, I can mix and match.  I also ordered the $198 before code Wide neck fair isle sweater, which is now sold out.  I bought the velvet Hadley boots in Zinc at a J Crew 40 percent off event last weekend ($228 before code). They are a steel gray-blue color with a fabulous light gray stripe up the back  with a walkable heel. I also bought the Tres chic tee ($29.50 before code) at the same event.  I like to wear graphic tees over long sleeved striped tees or striped turtlenecks in the winter with a cardigan or blazer.  It's an easy and fun way to layer.

I had been looking for metallic botties for some time. I tried the Margot bootie in soft metallic from Madewell that is now sold out, but I wasn't in love. I also spotted a Rebecca Minkoff silver bootie, but it had terrible reviews.  I spotted a few on Bloomingdales.com, but I didn't love the choices, so I stopped looking.  A week or so later, I saw my stylish friend Clare wearing these amazing Saint Lauren Loulou metallic textured-leather ankle boots and my desire was rekindled. She let me try them on and they were so comfortable. I knew The Saint Lauren's weren't in my budget and then, all of a sudden, I got an email from Tory Burch for 30 percent off $250 with code Thanks and I found these  Brooke metallic booties.  I can't wait to get them. Yes, they aren't crackled with the perfect hint of glitter like the Saint Lauren's, but these will make me happy too.

I bought these ankle length Blue faux leather trousers from H&M that were originally $34.99 and are now $24.99.  I'm slightly obsessed with leather and faux leather pants.  They lend a bit of edge to any outfit, but I can still wear them to work.  I think they may work nicely with the J Crew paisley top and the velvet Hadley booties.

Items that caught my eye for others or for myself that I didn't buy.

Tory Burch  - Clara flats  Tory Burch for 30 percent off $250 with code Thanks.

My mom has Harry Josh original pro dryer 2000  and loves it.  She doesn't find it heavy, but he just came out with a new lighter version that's pretty pricey at $349.  The original is 20 percent off now at Dermstore.   I would love to buy the Dyson, but the price is a bit steep, so this may be my next dryer.

Ann Taylor is offering 50 percent off with the code go pink.   I love Celestial pajama pants and I'm putting them on my wish list.  I think these Aria velvet bow loafers would dress up any outfit without the discomfort of heels. I also liked Lace mock neck sleeveless top that also comes in green, but I would need to see it in person. I think it would look great with black velvet pants.

Nordstrom

I have an older version, but this newer version of The beachwaver pro-1 and 1/4 inch rotating curling iron is 25 percent off at Nordstrom.  It's great for people like me that are totally uncoordinated at using a curling iron.

I've always loved Philosophy's Amazing Grace perfume, so this Philosophy anti wrinkle set caught my eye.  It's now 36 percent off.

These Prada 52mm polarized cat eye sunglasses are also 20 percent off.  I know a few people that have these and they look good on all of them.

If you have the money to splurge, this Prada feather block heel sandal would make a big statement on New Years.  They are 40 percent off.

Everything at Anthropologie is 30 percent off

This Sherpa moto jacket from Anthropologie is edgy yet cozy and a bit dressier and more feminine than a Patagonia pullover, and the Shipley sweatshirt is cute and casual.

Anthropologie also has a very curated selection of mostly natural beauty products, which can be less overwhelming than other sites. I want to try Sunday Riley Good Genes, which is pricey, so if you can get it on sale you should probably grab it.  I have RMS living luminizer and love it. I started using a few years ago when I read that J Crew uses it for all their photo shoots and I loved the lit from within without looking too sparkly look.  Next, I would like to try RMS eye polish in solar pictured below to see if I love it as much as the Living Luminizer.  I have and love Smith's rosebud salve, so this Smiths rosebud tin gift set of three would make a great gift for someone or you could leave a tin in your bag, at work, and in your car.

I love the color and texture of this Hobnail pitcher.  I think it would look great on a summer picnic table. I also like the Gilded botany mugs for company.
