What 96-year old that you know has a line at Home Shopping Network and Bergdorf Goodman at the same time? Here are a few fast facts about Ms. Apfel that will give you a small window into her life:

• As a young woman, she worked for Women's Wear Daily
• In 2005, she was the first living person who was not a designer to have her clothing and accessories exhibited at the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art
• She has nearly a million followers on social media
• She collaborated with well-known brands including Tag Heuer,  Bon Marché in Paris and the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong
• Apfel has graced the pages of Vogue Italia 
• At 91 years old, was the oldest cover star ever to grace Dazed & Confused
• She participated in several design projects, including work at the White House for nine presidents: Truman, Eisenhower, Nixon, Kennedy, Johnson, Carter, Reagan, and Clinton
• Apfel is the star of a documentary by Albert Maysles, called Iris.  It premiered at the New York Film Festival in October 2014    

AMAZING, no? In a world that focuses on the young, she's living proof that style has no age. Even though her birth certificate may say she's 96, she still has a lot to offer and some very smart and cultured people are listening. The older I get, the angrier I become at the way older people are mistreated in our culture. Even people that aren't that old! I see the way they are treated in stores and on the street, and I think it's terrible.  It's one of biggest pet peeves. I wish we cherished our elders the way other cultures do. I know that's not going to happen, but I'm glad the world has warmly embraced a small number of older people at least, but of course, they are famous like Linda Rodin, Maye Musk to name two. Okay, rant over. I never met an animal print I didn't love. This one looks a bit cropped and low cut, so it may not work for everyone. It does have a clasp to keep the neckline together.

This warm weather party dress is made for a print lover like me. It's a little crazy and a lot of fun. It has a forgiving cut and the color combo is one of my favorites. Obviously, it's not for the shy or the neutral lover.  

Woven bags will be popular again when the weather warms up and my favorite is this strawberry straw bag that also comes in natural below.

This fun and fresh take on the traditional hoop is right up my alley.  I like a classic turned on its head. I especially like gold hoops in the summer with a bun.

If you haven't heard or noticed, sporting a rainbow somewhere on your body is the rage and these DVF sneakers (left),  these Loeffler Randall (right) and this espadrille (second row, right) would be a comfortable way to wear the trend. This pouch is also a dip your toe in the water way to embrace the colorful trend also.

I love a good graphic tee and this one caught my eye.  You can pair it with anything, which is what you want when the weather gets warmer.  I think we're all tired of having to think about layers. You want an outfit you don't have to think about and you know it will work with any color. I call it a throw and go outfit. It would great with the sandals above, no?

I have the Loeffler Randall Luz shoes in black and tan. I bought both pairs at their annual sample sale, and they are so comfortable as are all my shoes made by the brand. I just spotted this new color combo in the Luz family.  They take a little time to put on, but the look and comfort are worth the extra time. Wouldn't they be great with the Star tee and a pair of black jeans?

Typically, I wouldn't have thought about purchasing this eyelet ruffle shirt, but I saw it on a blogger and I really liked it. The ruffle and the sleeves didn't look too over the top in person. I don't think it would be too prissy if you pair it with white or light blue ripped jeans. This embroidered shirt (middle) and this (bottom) one are pretty choices too.

Here's a blouse that is business in the front and a party in the back. 

You can wear this suede skirt now with tights and without when it gets warmer.  It's great for work and drinks after work too.

When it gets warm, black isn't always the best color to wear, but this blouse is airy and very chic when saying hello or goodbye.

This linen top is minimal and edgy. 

These trousers have such a great drape and would look great with halter top below.

This beaded bag is a really pretty.  It can elevate a plain outfit so easily. 

This striped tunic is classic that would work for many different body shapes and sizes. I love it paired with the beaded bag above.
