J. Crew: what I bought and what I left behind

J. Crew brought these Kiki’s out of retirement with an improved version as part of the Reissues, a collection of iconic best-sellers. The improvement includes an extra comfortable footbed. I can attest that they do feel padded, and they run true to size on me. I also love that they have a tiny heel because at 5’2 I need any lift I can get.

I love a statement earring. I typically don’t wear them until it gets warmer but they were on sale and I decided if I got them in navy rather than white, I was more likely to wear them now. I wasn’t a fan of the other colors —fuchsia and lime.

I wasn’t going to get this blazer because it’s pricey and I’m trying to stick to solids and smaller prints, but my friend, who is a manager at J. Crew, said she saw it in person (they didn’t have it in-store) and I needed it in my wardrobe. She knows my style and I trust her, so it’s on the way. It was also on promotion, so it’s a good time to try it. Based on the picture, it will look great with denim and navy, white and light blue skirts and pants.

This dress was on my wishlist but I was hesitant to buy it because it’s a bit springy. Once I tried it on I couldn’t resist. My friend and manager at J. Crew gave me a few options in my wardrobe of how I could winterize it. I love a Liberty print, and the A-line silhouette and the longer length are my go tos. I also love a long sleeve because I’m always cold. It’s cotton, which means it’s machine washable. While it doesn’t have pockets, it is lined. I sized down.

If you’ve checked out my Instagram, you know I have a thing for J. Crew’s sim wide-leg pants and these were no exception. I did take a smaller size than my other three pairs. The material felt thinner than the others in my wardrobe. The only reason I didn’t buy them now was that I thought they were too summery, but I will buy them eventually.

This set wasn’t on my wish list but I decided to try it anyway. The pants fit well in my normal size and were cute, but the top was too long on me even in an XS. If the shirt didn’t work, I wasn’t going to get the pants. I love a good matching set that I can wear together and break up. Unfortunately, this was a pass.

Margot is the new version of the Tippi. J Crew is bringing back some best sellers and updating them, which isn’t a bad move. The Margot is more relaxed and softer. I buy a medium in Tippi and in the Margot, I wear a small. It feels a bit like J Crew’s featherweight cashmere. I didn’t buy it because I bought the blazer, but I probably will eventually because it’s a great basic and a great transition piece.

I don’t need jeans but these houndstooth print were really cute. I go down a size in the Vintage Straight jeans.

While the store didn’t have these, I didn’t order them because they look really large in the online photo. I have to see them on someone besides the online photo before I’m willing to order them. They are pretty though.
