What I pulled the trigger on this week

I took a trip to J. Crew because I was sick for two days, and I was getting cabin fever. I also had rewards points that I was itching to spend on a pair of slim wide-leg jeans I saw online and I wanted to try. They are labeled a “best seller” online and they didn’t disappoint. As a short (5’2) and curvy person, wide-leg pants can be tricky. Some are just too wide; however, these are perfect because they are perfectly slim in the leg. I was able to size down but they looked better in my regular size. These super soft stunners also come in black.

The slim wide-leg jeans also are available with a paper-bag waist and come in a dark rinse wash and in ecru. They didn’t have this in-store, but since I loved the cut, I may order both of these if they go on sale.

A while ago I bought the snakeskin print kick crop jeans (in my regular size) below and loved the fit, so when I saw the same cut in leopard print, I knew I had to buy them. I have a hard time finding pants that fit a short hourglass figure like mine. When I find a cut that fits, I buy it in multiples.

Speaking of pants, these caught my eye too. They tailored sweatpants but not in typical sweatpant material. It says in the online description that these are online-only but they aren’t. The key to making these less casual is a collar and heels. They can be dressed up with a button-down shirt layered under a sweater or blazer and a pair of heels. They obviously look adorable with sneakers and a sweatshirt or a tee. The pants are also available in olive and black. I bought these in a small.

I love the brand Doen for their romantic dresses and tops and this top looked very similar to a Doen top I have in white but this one is less expensive; therefore, this was a no brainer. I sized down to an XS.

Here are some other items I saw and liked but didn’t buy:

I also shopped Everlane’s “Choose What You Pay” sale. I like the price point they offer, I like their mission and the quality of their products. I can’t wear jeans to work, so I don’t like to spend a ton on them. Besides my favorite Levis, I also love my Everlane Kick Crop jeans. Most of my jeans are straight-legged, so for $48, I decided to buy two pairs of skinny jeans. I bought the High-Rise Skinny in ankle length and the Authentic Stretch High-Rise Skinny also in ankle. One has stretch the other doesn’t. Earlier this summer I bought a pair of the High-Rise Skinny in the dark wash in the regular length. I sized up based on the lack of stretch and the reviews, and I didn’t buy the ankle length. They were too long and too big. Two mistakes made. This sale helped me to remedy both of them. I also bought The Day Heel in the stacked heel version. I have the lower (not stacked) version in another color in my normal 7.5, but I soon learned after I wore them out that I needed an 8. Again, this sale helped me to fix that mistake too. I’m tempted to buy them in white or tan too. They are very comfortable because of the wide heel.

A lot of “Choose What You Pay” items sold out but here are some of my picks that are still in stock:
