What's up this week

What's up this week

When the weather gets warmer, you just want something simple after having to layer all winter.  I think this jumpsuit and this elegant wrap dress check that box. Throw a cardigan or jean jacket over either and you're good to go.

I fell hard for this dress.  It has everything I'm craving right now (see more dresses I'm loving below).  I'm really into romantic maxi dresses.  It (comes in lavender too) looks tricky in terms of fit, so I got the measurements and took the risk because of the discount and I can return it. I think it can work for so many occasions - work, weekend and parties - by changing your accessories.

How great is this three-wick soy candle in a bowl?  Wouldn't it make a great gift? When the candle is gone, you're left with a pretty bowl that's perfect for rings and things.  The candle comes in six fragrances fresh cut grass, fig, amber vanilla, tea rose,  citronella and bougainvillea.

How cute are these espadrilles? Who doesn't love stripes?

I think everyone can agree it's hard to find white jeans you like. I finally found a great pair last year, so I decided to purchase another pair this year.  Well, of course, they were discontinued.  Note to self, buy two pairs of white jeans if you find a pair you like. So, I bought these  Madewell jeans (below, left) because I wanted a high rise with a skinny leg.  The (very) good: they aren't transparent and they have magic pockets that hold you in. The bad: my calves look like they are ready to bust loose. They deliver everywhere else.  Now, maybe I have big calves and never realized how big they are.  I have to try them on again and compare them with my other skinny white jeans.  Perhaps my calves look just as big in my old jeans? Are showing big calves a bad thing? Anyway, I think I may keep them because you can't see through them and they do have magic pockets, and maybe I just need to accept my calves.

In the meantime, I ordered these J Crew slim boyfriend jeans (below, right). They don't have "skinny" in the name, so I think I'm safe from the calf situation.   I get them next week, so we'll see if they work.  I do think you need different cuts of denim for different situation, so I may keep the skinny version. Do you have any white jeans you like?

Loeffler Randall is one of my favorite brands, so when I got an email that they were holding their Friends and Family 30 percent off sale, I pounced and bought these. Why? I wear my silver Tory Burch metallic boots all the time because Silver is a neutral.  I get compliments on my boots constantly, so I thought these mules would be the warm weather version. They are high, so I get the height that a 5 foot 2 person craves.  Now, these aren't made for walking several miles in, but I'm well aware and okay with it. Every shoe has a purpose.  The company said these were "an occasion" shoe. So, someone please invite me to an occasion because now I have a cute shoe to wear!  Seriously, I overdress a lot of the time, so I don't need an occasion to wear them. They look just as great with jeans as they do with dresses.

I've heard amazing things about Charlotte Tillbury Flawless Filter, so I went to crazyville (aka Bloomingdales on a Saturday) to check it out. The packaging says it provides a "youthful glow," which sounds good to me. It supposedly acts as an Instagram-like filter.  It has amazing reviews and I saw a blogger mention it in an unsponsored post.  You can find out more about her products here

Let's just say I'm a sucker.  Yes, I walked away with the Flawless Filter, Charlotte's Magic Cream, and a Hollywood Contour Wand.  The reason I went to Bloomingdales was that the store was running a special on beauty --If you spend over $150 you get $15 off. Also, I couldn't order anything online yet.  I needed to find out my color, I'm a #2.  I did get a ton of samples too. I used the Eye Rescue Cream sample last night.  Obviously, it's hard to tell just yet, but I did feel moisturized in that area when I woke up and my dark circles look less prominent.  It could just be in my head, so I need to keep using the sample.  Even then, how long is the sample going to last to really see results? Not long enough.  I will say it didn't irritate me and I did wake up not feeling dry, so...   Anyway, tomorrow I'll try all the other products and provide a review here.
