Mad for Madewell

Mad for Madewell

I read an article about Calvin Klein shutting down his luxury division. There’s more of a desire for Lululemon than lux wear, no? Read about it here and let me know your thoughts.

I’m a big fan of Madewell denim because of the quality and price. I can’t wear jeans to work, so I’m not wiling to pay $300 plus for a pair. I also love the ability to be able to bring any jean there to recycle for a discount on a new pair. I took a trip to Madewell to recycle a pair of old jeans that were mid-rise and stiff . You can either opt for a discount card for 20 percent off a new pair that you can use later or the sales associates can apply the 20 percent off a new pair the same day you recycle. I opted for the buy now option.

I tried on three pairs and went home with these Stovepipe jeans, which have a straight leg and are cropped (yes, they are cropped even on me at 5’2, they hit a bit above my ankle) with a little stretch. I sized down to a 26. The color is what got me. They are the perfect faded blue with a touch of grey that looks like you’ve had them for years.

I also tried The Perfect Vintage Jean in Fitzgerald Wash, which I though I would hate but I liked a lot. I tend not to like or wear light jeans but I really liked these. Yu need to give them a try. They have no hanger appeal. They are a light summer spring blue with no stretch. According to the sales associate, It’s one of Madewell’s best sellers (read the reviews), so they have them year round. It’s nice to know I can go back and get them if I want to, which I may just do. I liked that they had no rips and no distressing. I sized down to a 26 and did a little shimmy to get in them, but they were comfortable once I had them on.

Finally, I tried the The Perfect Vintage Jean in Parnell Wash: Comfort Stretch Edition, which have the vintage cut like the one’s above but a little stretch, so no shimmy required. I liked these but the rips didn’t line up with my knees, which isn’t a deal breaker, but I don’t need another pair of ripped jeans. I like the non-stretch version of these better.

Madewell is having a 20 percent off promo on select shoes, so if . If you follow my Instagram, you know I love my white Rebecca Minkoff booties, so now that it’s Daylight Saving Time, and it will get warmer as the days go by, I’m transitioning my booties to these Harper mules that are beyond comfortable. Madewell added an extra layer of padding and you can definitely feel it. They feel like you are walking on clouds. The chunky heels are also the perfect height.

Do you have a favorite brand of jeans? Thanks for visiting.
