Summer in September

A red lip is my signature. I am pale and look dead without a bold lip. I typically wear long-wearing formulas or mattes, so they are drying, and when they start to wear off, I need moisture but I want more color. I found my solution with a NARS product. I just bought their velvet lip glide. It’s a combination of a lip gloss and lipstick. It has the texture and nondrying qualities of a gloss and the color payoff of a lipstick. The color is saturated and it feels really smooth and comfortable but not sticky on your lips. It has a satin to a semi-matte finish. Two thumbs up.

This weekend, the J. Crew near my apartment had a cashmere event. One of my favorite stylists was wearing this hot pink cashmere mock neck with the brown sequin skirt below. It looked so good together. I passed on the sequin skirt because I'd hardly wear it, but I bought the sweater that I’ll wear it with the more practical maroon faux leather skirt below to achieve a similar look. The mock neck is great for people who don’t like turtlenecks but like the look, so if that’s you, this is a winner.

Besides the cashmere event, my nearest J. Crew store was also honoring the storewide 30 percent off fall items, so I picked these up. I have them in black and love them. Pointy toes elongate and make you seem taller, so as someone who is vertically challenged, I’ve always liked a pointy toe.

I received a promo offer from Rebecca Taylor. I hardly ever shop there because even when there’s a sale, the items are still pricey. I’ve been eyeing a blouse for a while, so when I received the offer, I decided to go and see it in person, which is always a mistake because I know I’ll buy it, but off I went. The blouse was right on the table as I walked in. Yes, a sign. I tried a small and XS, and the xs fits me better, so I guess it was a good idea to go. When I went to the register, I saw the manager who I formed a relationship with the last time I was in, i.e., I’m a talker just like my mom. Anyway, she said I should pre-sale it because this Wednesday is the start of their friends and family promo, which offers a better discount than the one I received via email. Score. Yes, another reason I was glad I went. So, this one will be mine next week and now you know about their friends & family event.
