The Sunday seven

I took a trip to Tory Burch today to check out the new Tory Sneaker. They look like the Loewe sneakers seen below that I was obsessed with but never bought because of the price tag, so when I saw these at a better price point, I had to check them out. I’m a huge fan of the fashion from the 70’s and these are described as being inspired by ‘70’s track shoes, which is why I love them. They are light, sleek, comfortable and run small. They are fashion sneakers and not running sneakers. I typically wear an 8 in sneakers but took an 8.5. Below you can see all the color combos. I’m not a huge fan of big logos, but because the logo is on your feet and on one side, it didn’t bother me. Some people like the look of sneakers with a dress, but I prefer the look of sneakers with a pair of slightly baggy suit pants and a plain tee or button down.

I’ve been sweating terribly in my cotton masks, so when I heard that Tory’s are made from two layers of lightweight, moisture-wicking fabric, I was sold. None of the masks I have are two layers, which is what is recommended to keep you safe and the prints were adorable, so a pack came home with me as well. They have a contoured wire at the nose, adjustable ear loops and an interior pocket that fits a filter (not included). They check all the important boxes.

The icing on the cake, Tory Burch will not be making a profit on them. The price includes their cost to produce and a $10 donation is divided between two organizations. $5 will be donated to International Medical Corps working to stop the spread of COVID-19 in the United States and around the world, and $5 will be donated to the Tory Burch Foundation, working to advance women’s empowerment and women entrepreneurs; with a maximum donation of $500,000 to each organization. Don’t you love when you buy something that you want and it helps others in the process? I bought the set pictured which seems to be available in store but back-ordered online until 9/5. There is another set that is available online now.

I’ve been curious about Tory Sport for some time. Now that I’m working from home, the need to try some of her items have been top of mind. When I found out they had a few items from the collection in store, a huge smile spread across my face. I can walk to the Tory Burch store but Tory Sport is downtown, so I haven’t been able to visit. Her seamless legging are the most comfortable leggings I’ve ever tried. They are like wearing butter but what they are not is the type that suck you, which are the compression version that they didn’t have on hand. I tried her signature chevron leggings with the matching sweatshirt. I ended up ordering the tie dye leggings, which they didn’t have in store. I now regret not getting a navy solid sweatshirt. Why a solid? It would go with the tie dye leggings that are on the way to me as well as the chevron print, which I have a feeling I may have to eventually buy.

I bought the leopard dot version of this dress because I thought it was the perfect transition dress. The print leans into fall, and I think I could throw on a cardigan ( see my favorite cardigans on my last post) and tall boots when it gets cool. I sized down to a XXS and I typically wear a small.

I fell in love with this print. It’s a bit summery, so I should have resisted but I can put on a cardigan and stretch it’s longevity a bit. I’ll be happy I didn’t pass on it next summer. It’s on it’s way, so I can’t help with sizing except that my friend who works at J. Crew told me to size down.

I’m surprised I bought these because of the big print, but the length was perfect, I love the color combo, and they are lined. They fit and feel like track pants, and I’ve never been able to find track pants that fit. I’ll balance the big print with a solid pink, grey or white sweatshirt or a white tee and my denim or white blazer. I don’t care for the way J. Crew styled them in the picture. In my opinion, the denim shirt is too much of a contrast and I don’t like the sandals the model is wearing. I’d prefer sneakers, loafers or heels. I took the smaller of my J. Crew pant sizes.

Unlike the print above, this delicate print is the type of print I typically buy. I love the ruffle at the neck too. This is another one that I was going to pass up because it was summery but it looks great with olive/khaki, honey brown/tan. I can wear it with my denim blazer or a navy or honey brown/tan pants and cardigans. Of course there’s always jeans. I sized down to an XS in this one.

Thanks for visiting.
